To make the most of your consultation, there are a few important things to do beforehand:
✔ Complete your questionnaires at least one day in advance. This initial reflection helps you reconnect with your health from the start, and allows your clinical team to arrive prepared. Please complete them by clicking the links from your phone, tablet, or computer:
1. Initial Intake Form
2. Medical Symptoms Questionnaire (MSQ)
3. Lifestyle Medicine Questionnaire (LMQ)You can also access all forms here: View all
✔ Send your previous studies (laboratory results, imaging, medical history from the past year, or older if relevant) to data@drluigivilchis.com.
✔ Plan your time. The consultation lasts approximately 105 minutes, but we recommend setting aside two hours so you can arrive without rushing.
✔ Arrive early. Allow time for traffic and parking — we offer valet parking, though it can fill up. Respecting your time and other patients' time is part of the process.
→ We make every effort to be punctual and respect your schedule. That said, the nature of Functional Medicine requires detailed, personalized attention, and consultations occasionally run longer when a patient needs more time. We appreciate your patience and understanding — the same level of care and depth will be available to you whenever you need it.
"The path that creates health is different from the path that creates illness."

Your initial consultation is an extensive and deeply strategic session. Before we see you, our team organizes your file and reviews your prior records when available — we arrive prepared.
The goal isn't simply to give you a prescription, but to build a clear, in-depth clinical map of your current physiology. We look at your energy, metabolism, hormones, digestion, sleep, mental health, and the symptoms that brought you here — not in isolation, but as parts of a system.
Your consultation includes a functional nutrition evaluation alongside the medical assessment. In our model, nutrition is part of the diagnostic layer, not a separate service. Our clinical nutritionist evaluates your relationship with food, eating patterns, potential intolerances and sensitivities, circadian rhythms, and how all of this interacts with your biology. Understanding this is essential for the plan your doctor builds. If you already work with a nutritionist outside our practice, this evaluation complements that relationship rather than replacing it.
You'll receive initial recommendations from day one, but the most refined, personalized treatment is defined once we integrate your laboratory results, advanced biomarkers, and your response to the first changes.
"Our approach is clear: health isn't simply the absence of disease. It is vitality, mental clarity, metabolic resilience, prevention, and functional longevity. And this requires method, depth, and a team that walks with you."

The short answer: it isn't necessary. During your initial session we'll define together which studies will bring real value to your process, based on your history, clinical findings, and goals.
The longer answer: some patients prefer to get a head start — out of curiosity, out of habit with preventive checkups, or because they want to arrive with recent data so we can go deeper, faster. If that sounds like you, we've prepared a guide with the functional panel we most often request from new patients, along with the partner labs we work with.

→ The guide also notes the advanced functional panels we use when the clinical case warrants it (high-resolution cardiometabolic, hormonal panels, gut microbiome, functional genetics, among others). We don't request these by default — the indication is built around findings and goals throughout your process.
"Normal" doesn't mean optimal. We look for patterns, optimal ranges, and early markers of dysfunction that point toward a truly personalized plan.

Your initial consultation generates a lot of information. Don't worry about remembering everything. After your session, a clinical integration phase begins — and it happens on our side, not yours.
Within the first 24 to 72 hours:
✔ You'll receive initial recommendations and immediate guidance so you can begin acting from day one, while your full plan is refined internally.
✔ You'll receive instructions for your laboratory studies, along with any complementary referrals defined during your session.
✔ Your clinical team will structure your personalized plan — including therapeutic strategy, supplementation, nutrition plan, and Lifestyle Medicine tools. You'll receive it in writing by email.
→ If an urgent question comes up between consultations, you can write to us by WhatsApp. Clinical communication between consultations is reserved for specific issues and initial guidance; the finer therapeutic decisions are built within the consultation itself, to protect the quality and depth of each one.
What defines a Functional Medicine process isn't the initial consultation, but the rigor with which findings are analyzed, interventions prioritized, and strategy structured. This is the invisible phase — and the one that most determines the outcome.

Typically, your second consultation is scheduled 2 to 6 weeks after your first. In this session, your doctor will:
◦ Review your progress and interpret your study results in detail.
◦ Refine your treatment plan with personalized recommendations on lifestyle, nutrition, and supplementation.
◦ Schedule additional studies, complementary therapies, or referrals as needed.
After the second consultation, follow-ups are scheduled every 4 to 12 weeks based on your clinical and personal needs. In each session, we refine the plan according to your progress, with the goal of ensuring optimal, sustainable, and measurable results over the long term.
